I do not think you understand. Ron Paul did not leave the Reagan Coalition until after Rand had come of political age. Ron Paul started out as a gold bug and anti-Communist. Then, he became friends with radical libertarians like Murray Rothbard in the 1980s. He has since left the reservation. Rand Paul, on the other hand, regularly makes comments that put him at odds with Ron Paul-types.

Very interesting comment, especiall on the last sentence about the “Ron Paul types”.

I think the biggest problem with Ron Paul IS his devotees. Most observers regard them as obnoxious kooks and Ron Paul gets more of that image than he deserves - because of his followers. I often thought many were actually liberals who were not sure what they were and attached themselves to him during the Bush era because they liked his stance against the war.

I don’t know but he did get the economics right and he’s been right about the Federal Reserve. Nevertheless, his son has much better skills and doesn’t sound like he’s whining when he speaks. There’s a good deal to be said for that in the plitical arena.
