I'm not trying to inflame. I am not trying to troll. I just bring reality. You probably know it's true yourself.
Romney will be the guy.
At this time in 2007, the dreadful McCain was polling in single digits, and fundless. Yet he won the nomination pretty easily. Romney is MUCH stronger right now.
Who will beat him? I tend to doubt Palin will even run. Bachmann will never get establishment support, and the MSM's efforts to trash her are already underway. Cain just doesn't have the impetus. Ron Paul? Well, he's just Ron Paul. The rest are asterisks.
Back who you want. I encourage you. I hope I am wrong, but I won't be (I like Cain). It's going to be Romney vs. Kenyan Mchopeychange. You might as well get used to the idea.
I agree and repeat my pledge, on the day Palin declares I’ll donate $25 to her campaign, and $25 here to FR.
Things should start getting mighty interesting on this forum, from that point forward.
(not that things aren’t interesting here already)
:D
Oh, this is such a pathetic Zot-bait opus that we can’t even be bothered making it an Undead Thread, because Romney is just too freepin’ BORING.
Where’s your polysyllabic invective, your homicidal aardvarks, your fast cars and hot guys? Waste of bandwidth ...
You’re right that Mitt’s the only one with a chance from among the early entrants.
But Palin and likely Perry will jump in, and our nominee will come from among those three. Let’s hope it’s Palin.
hey, what are the Mega-Millions numbers for this coming Tuesday?
The fatal flaw in this reasoning is that Romney was ALSO running in 2007, and was unable to beat the "dreadful McCain" despite his vast wealth and army of paid-for operatives. Romney was an even weaker candidate than McCain, and nothing has changed - EXCEPT that this time, on top of his inherent weaknesses, Romney is a has-been retread.
Interesting to see the Romney-bots creeping out of the woodwork whenever some pro-Romney PR is posted. Yes, Romney would be "marginally" better than Obama, but so much worse than other candidates (and soon to be announced candidates) who embody the Tea Party revolution within the GOP.
And, of course, don't forget the game plan: the MSM is intent upon telling us who our candidate should be - a weak candidate who they will promptly eviscerate in the general, handing re-election to Obama.
There’s these little events called “Primaries”, where people vote for the nominee. And it’s not unusual for a front-runner with lots of $$ to find himself on the sidelines... Just ask Hillary.
ANY republican would beat Obama and the worst Republican would be a massive improvement.
“I’m trying to inflame.”
We knew that.
“I am trying to troll.”
retty lamely too, but go on.
“I just bring unreality. And a heavy cloud of hallucinogenic smoke”
And giggling mind squirrels.
“You probably know it’s true yourself.”
Yes, we knew you had mind squirrels.
“Romney will be a guy.”
He flip flops on so many things, I’ve been waiting for him to don a dress.
You have the future all figured out, huh? Amazing. And I suppose obama gets re-elected?
I agree with the point that Palin will only run if Michelle stumbles. However, I am concerned about how Michelle will hold up in debates vs. other Pubs. I don’t think that she has the same sort of sound-bite instinct that Palin has, which in the battle to win the hearts and minds of the sheeple, is very important.
Think Reagan, the man was a sound bite magician and used that to get his views and points across and defeat Carter, Mondale and win the hearts and minds of the people. It was simple, quick and people were able to get it very quickly.
What is a “zot”?
Sniff?
H*ll, it's 15 months to the election. I prefer the attitude of Gene Kranz ...
If Sarah doesn't run I will probably write her in on my ballot.
When people say they have to vote for the lesser of two bad choices they're still voting for a bad choice.
EXCEPT that this time, on top of his inherent weaknesses, Romney is a has-been retread.”
Alas, that is no small EXCEPT. It is hugely important for the GOP. For whatever reason (and there are no good ones). It is the party of “you must run twice” to get the nomination. (GWB being the exception...then again, if you think about it, not really....).
For those battered GOP types inside, and outside, the DC media machine, it past time to man up or go home.
This is not a replay of 1995
The only people I see out there that are worth voting for are Bachmann, Palin, and Cain. All others are nothing but the same tired old “moderate” crap.
Intrade’s money is on Perry now and it’s rising. http://www.intrade.com/?request_operation=main&request_type=action&checkHomePage=true
