He's more subtle than that. He misleads and lies by omission. He's too smart to let himself get caught in an obvious misstatement of fact.

There's no need to document a recantation because there was never any such commitment or allegiance.
I know it is more emotionally satisfying to you to think he's a hardcore Marxist, but the truth of the matter is that he's really just a common, run-of-the-mill European-style social democrat.
If you really believe he's a Marxist, how do you explain the fact that he agreed to sell the government's controlling stake in GM in an IPO?
