Haven't seen a laptop yet that is properly cooled on its' own.
Don't like the idea of processors running at 135-140 degrees F with no programs running except the OS.
The air intakes are in no way filtered against dust. You would be surprise how dirty the innards can get in a short time.

My wife has been using her Toshiba Qosmio X505-880 i7 quad core laptop for a year, no problems yet.
Has a SSD C drive and a 500GB secondary hard drive.
I call it an in house desktop replacement.
18.5 inch screen and fairly heavy for everyday carry around, but great for in house carry around.

Will be building a new desktop for myself where I can cool the heck out of it and also have an input air filter. It will be a faster and probably more dependable machine in the long run for half the money.

Mine run much lower than that, under 100 degF typically, very quiet.
