I use a lap top, however the only downside is when you need to print, or want to listen to music.
Most new printers on the market are wireless.
Printing is no problem. Ever since I got WiFi, I have had a printer on WiFi also, so no problem to print from laptop, wherever I am in the house. Can even print from my iPhone.
My laptop has great sound for all types of Music.. and additionally can print anything I want it to print. So if that’s something one wants you can have it with your laptop.
We have a wireless printer on the wifi and what do you find hard about listening to music??
I'm slaving away on a start-up company with one poor sucker to do the engineering including documentation. That sucker would be me. I just counted 8 binders full of technical documentation written and printed from this laptop. All in the last few months.
Printing isn't a problem.
I'm also watching a SETI talk, Geeky stuff on the laptop, and with the laptop plugged into external speakers, the sound is great.
I find your complaints without merit.

I bought a Dell XPS15 laptop last year and just love it! One of the main reasons I got it was because of the sound system. It's really great! JBL speakers etc. The video below demonstrates the laptop and at the end you can hear the quality. The only problem with this video is that listening to his sound demonstration is "tinnier" than what I hear on mine. Great sound for a laptop.
I use a wireless printer and it works great. I'm buying wireless speakers soon.
I also use a wireless mouse because I hate the one on the laptop. Basically, I'm free except for the power cord.
