“Palin radiates a sense of grievance that is antithetical to the Reagan style and spirit."

I don't get a feeling of grievance, I get the sense of "We mad and we aren't gonna take it (socialism) any more." I don't think that this tour means she's going to run or not run. I think it means she's attacking from a different direction, to move the ball from lamestream media control over to flyover country control. She's changing the game for whoever becomes the nominee. We owe her a lot.

I was posting Comment 9 while you were posting #8. We’re on the same wavelength.

The conflict is finally becoming one of essentials.

THEY want to take money from producers and give it to non-producers BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THAT IT IS RIGHT, MORAL, TO DO SO.

WE want to stop them because WE BELIEVE THAT TAKING MONEY FROM PRODUCERS BY FORCE TO GIVE TO NON-PRODUCERS IS IMMORAL.

The "normal" Republicans do not disagree with the morality of redistribution, they just have various pragmatic objections (i.e., whatever redistribution scheme is being discussed is inefficient, or creates unexpected outcomes, or some such).

What the Palin insurgency is about is that there is a sizeable faction in this country, most of whom are nominal Republicans, who think redistribution is immoral. They are not represented by either party, and the election of a President who is ramping up redistribution because of his belief in its moral superiority has clarified their thinking.

Redistribution is modern slavery. " It may seem strange that any men should dare to ask a just God's assistance in wringing their bread from the sweat of other men's faces", but that's where we are at.

America will not continue to be divided on this essential question. As Lincoln said in 1858, "Under the operation of that policy, that agitation has not only, not ceased, but has constantly augmented. In my opinion, it will not cease, until a crisis shall have been reached, and passed. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved -- I do not expect the house to fall -- but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other."

Palin is the one candidate who can stand for those of us who find the Republicrat acceptance of redistribution to be immoral.
