And now for the day that we've all been waiting for, it appears that JoAnne Kloppenburg finally got the memo that she was losing in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race. She is expected to concede about this time today.
Kloppenburg had called for a recount after the election results showed he 7,000 votes behind incumbent justice David Prosser. This is just under the maximum vote percentage to allow a state-funded recount. Kloppenburg's campaign expected to gain votes in one particular country that never materialized.
Now Politico is reporting that Kloppenburg is going to leave the race, despite her earlier calls to continue the recount. This would leave the conservative/Republican faction on the Wisconsin Supreme Court with a majority. This will be important in the court case sure to follow regarding the public sector union law.

If the difference in votes from the original count had been more than 0.5% (one half of one percent), she would have had to pay part of the cost.
However, as it was, the margin was close enough that under current law, the recount would be paid by taxpayers.
IIRC, under the first canvass, Prosser won by 0.48%. With only a few hundred more Prosser votes, and the recount would probably not have been requested. But hey... so long as it’s “free”... why not, right Joanne?

This surprised most of us in WI, she did concede although her speech was condescending as all get out.

I was wondering if she’d sue since that seemed to be the tack she was running.
Especially with her announcements of ‘irregularities’ every chance she got.
I guess someone told her, “Oh yeah, we tracked those to your crew”?

The supreme court hearing is scheduled for June 6, and prosser's new term isn't until Aug 1. They may have figured that it isn't worth it if the case is likely to be decided before Aug 1.
LOL. They were outfoxed.
I'm retired and so is my wife. We are still taxpayers in Wisconsin (sales, property, & income) and will be 'till the day we move out or die. If we were to move, Wisconsin WILL clip you for "capital gains" on the sale of your residence if you invest in a new home out of state. Friend of mine fought it all the way to the WISC and lost.

Was not at all aware of this; wonder how many other residents of WI know about it? Isn't age a "protector"?
Of course, the way the housing market in WI has been, the last thing most folks expect is "captial gains" upon the sale of a residence.
But very good to know nonetheless.
