You don't mean that crowd at Nauvoo do you?
There's criticism and then there's persecution, and then there's violent suppression. Some people think they're all the same thing ~ but they're not!
I cannot help but note the continued existence of congregations of Mormons in and around Nauvoo and Kansas City ~ do you imagine they were all slaughtered and brought back to life?
Not to argue, but like aren't all Mormons the same and in a sort of theological lockstep?

Actually, I believe we were discussing
Haun's Mill massacre

I couldn't agree more.

Actually, I can remember as a child traveling through Missouri and having my parents caution me not to let anyone know we were Mormons. (The Extermination Proclamation was not repealed until 1976) The RLDS remained and eventually became known as the Community of Christ.
Some Mormons returned to their roots and bought up farms their ancestors had been forced to abandon.

I don't know, are Catholics in theological lockstep?
If they are, then we are, if they are not, then we are not. It's pretty similar and I know because as a youth I attended Catholic Bible school and mass with some friends off and on. (Off once the Parrish priest found out I was a Mormon, lol!)
