You’re the first person that has written my thoughts down regarding the slave issue in such an exact way.

I’ve done little research on the subject but for years I always felt that there were only “a handful” of slave owners. The way the issue is presented though you would think every white man in the country owned slaves; which is ridiculous. Another part of the slave issue that rarely gets mentioned is the fact that their own people in Africa rounded them up and sold them. I really wish I could find a FACT based account on slavery with actual numbers and statistics.

As far as the dimwits that voted because of ‘guilt’ that thought process never even occurred to me what so ever. It’s a foreign concept to me and not in my wildest dreams did I think people voted that way; but I’ve heard and read so many accounts of it that it must be true. Even my DIL told me just last week that friends of theirs that were in college at the time, said that is why they voted for the marxist. BTW those kids were homeschooled and conservative.

See just one reference to slave trading The Origins of the African Slave Trade The practice was established far earlier in Africa and European countries than the U.S. ever began using Africans for slaves. One of the largest users of black slaves were the Muslims!

Our problems in America are not so much because of slavery as they are because of how blacks were treated after slavery was abolished. And that treatment was not limited to the southerners...the Yankees are just as much to blame in their discriminations when the slaves fled and relocated in northern towns and cities where they could not find jobs or be accepted into society.

I am against discrimination of any sort, and will fight it... but I refuse to feel guilty about the early slavery practices of a small percent of plantation owners over a hundred years ago. There were far more and still are more black slave owners than white Americans.
