So the proper sequence for that evidence is AP HiRes white background -> print to green hash paper -> seal and show to Guthrie -> scan back into computer -> diddle.
For a counterexample to the ‘R’ above, the ‘K’ in Kenya supports my theory. In the AP HiRes it is dark. In the second Guthrie snap (she took a narrower snap that missed some critical components like the rubber stamp) it is clearly dark. But in the WHPDF it is light and grayscale. The reason for that is that the postprocessing diddling that the WH did, picked up “enya” as letters, but left the ‘K’ behind because it overlapped the vertical form line.
