I remember Tom Drake being charged last year for something to do with thin thread. FReepers support the Patriot Act so I presume they support thin thread too.

Yes, I looked to see if there were previous threads and there were and, generally, FReepers were condemning Thomas Drake. That link is to a long article but it is well worth reading.

Thin Thread was a program that Drake wrote which collected domestic info anonymously precisely to protect American citizens from warrantless surveillance. He was dumped and his program was re-written to allow the collection of full info not excluding names and other identifiers.

They are and have been storing every byte that passes through every electronic communication medium in a searchable directory and have the software to automatically put together profiles with any parameter they want.
