Mitts health-care solution is a major problem for his presidential campaign.
Unless things change, the man (or woman) elected in 2012 will be the last American president to preside over the worlds leading economy. If things get really bad, he will find himself presiding over the early stages of American collapse. Not decline but collapse. Decline is what happens when youre Britain in the 1940s and you cede global dominance to a major ally that shares your language, legal system, cultural inheritance, and broad geopolitical objectives. That deal isnt on offer this time round.

When Rush, the Wall Street Journal, National Review, and virtually all stripes of conservative bloggers are poking fun at you for your stance (all at the same time), it's not a good thing if you're trying to win the GOP nomination.
I'll assume from this statement that we have learned nothing from the last presidential election cycle.
During the Primaries, what Conservative voted for John McCain, yet that is the putz we had to rally behind in order to hope defeat the media's juggernaut candidate Barry Soetoro.
We still are allowing the enemedia to pick our candidates. Furthermore, we are allowing the Democrats to pick our candidates. Rush Limbaugh was late to the game of debauching the Primaries with Operation Chaos because the Demoncats pulled a much better organized version of that in Florida, an early Primary State, that ultimately gave us McCain as Demoncat voters were told that their Demoncat votes would not be counted. Unregistered Demoncats and Independents, all swept up in the worship of Barry swarmed the Republican Primaries and pushed out every other contender.
This time around, we have an even more whoreish enemedia, and it appears Barry is going to run uncontested so all of those open primary states, and all of those freshly minted college students and other idiots who haven't yet registered, or who are now allowed to re-register will again choose our candidates for us. Even worse, Soros has been on a campaign to control the various Secretaries of State. The public employee unions in charge of voting machines got away with tampering and destroying thousands of machines in Texas so the message is out to the Left, nothing is too over the top to corrupt and pollute the upcoming elections. Holder has told the Black Panthers that there is no level of violence and intimidation that he will investigate, the various SoSs ohave told the illegals it perfectly fine to vote and to vote often, and the unions know that they can tamper with the voting machines as much as they please.
I trust the integrity of Cuba, Venezuela, Iran and Saddam's Iraq vote as much as the upcoming 2012. This business with Mit or Mitch is just rearranging deck chairs.
Which means that this massive debt will be paid off by the holders of currency--which is just about everyone. At least it's the ultimate "fair" form of taxation!
But....Having a usurper in the White House, who can ( and has) put thousands out of work with the stroke of a pen on an executive order, or can send our military into to hostile countries to set up regimes dedicated to our extinction, ...well...that's a "distraction" and a "technicality".

McCain to crowd: ‘Don’t be scared’ of Obama presidency

Steyn: “American conservatives problem with Romneycare is the same as with Obamacare that, if the government (whether state or federal) can compel you to make arrangements for the care of your body parts that meet the approval of state commissars, then the Constitution is dead. ....For if conceding jurisdiction over your lungs and kidneys and bladder does not make you a subject rather than a citizen, what does? I doubt Romney thought about it in such terms. In 2006, he was ___not a philosophical conservative___. In 2004, as a U.S. senator from New York, Hillary Clinton argued in The New York Times that the current health care system is unsustainable, and she offered several solutions Her article also mentioned areas of agreement with one-time opponent Newt Gingrich, and likewise Gingrich has expressed agreement with Senator Clinton on some aspects of health care, including a bill to modernize medical record keeping.

One key turning point against the Clinton plan was a televised town hall meeting in April 1994. During the event, President Clinton was challenged by businessman Herman Cain on the resulting effects on small businesses.[19]

HOORAY Mark Steyn! Thanks for posting.
I agree. Our elections are corrupt, and Republican leaders doing nothing.
Your post #18 is excellent and brings up many interesting points.
During the Primaries, what Conservative voted for John McCain...Actually, I think a good chunk of his vote, at least in some of the primary states, came from true conservatives who were unfortunately hoodwinked into believing McCain was the best of the lot. After all, he is pro-life (though I've read that he might not actually be so) and he did have all that military experience... and the rest of the field was weak.
So yes, they were wrong to vote for him but some conservatives did just that in the 2008 primary: voted for John McCain.
Marx, Lenin, Stalin.............said that Communism is a necessity, and they just need the right country to make it work.

Steyn brilliant as always. If Rush ever decides to retire (or if he’s setting up what EIB should do in the event of his death), I hope “The Rush Limbaugh Show” continues without El Rushbo, and with a rotation of his regular guest hosts. I’d like Steyn 2/5 of the time, with Walter Williams and Mark Belling 1/5 of the time each, and a rotation others for the remaining 1/5.
My point was, that virtually all the right leaning media is saying how bad the Romney move is. I don't give a fig for what the MSM thinks.
I think they (WSJ, NR, Rush) are right, but I'm also glad because this makes it harder for him to win the primary. I think (hope) it's the beginning of a major melt down for him as a candidate.
Before the 2008 primaries, I made a list of the 9 Republican candidates in order of preference. I had McCain at #7, ahead only of Romney and Ron Paul. By the time my state’s primary took place, several candidates had dropped out—I think the only ones with a chance by that time were Huckabee, Romney and McCain. I voted for McCain but it was an anti-Romney vote rather than a pro-McCain vote.
Interesting. Thanks for posting that. It means that McCain got conservative votes that weren’t even “misguided votes” but votes of desperation, since there wasn’t anything else left. You were right not to vote for Comrade Romney, under any circumstances.
