“Sure, Reagan was an actor. Of course, he didn’t work as an actor for roughly 15-years before he became president. And, what did he do in those intervening 15-years? Well (as he would say), he only ran the most populated state in the union, a state that at the time was the 4th largest economy on the planet.”

>>>>Ok, so now it’s ok to be on T.V. to be President, BUT you can’t have done it within 15 years of running for President? Is that your time table? And funny, Reagan was an ACTOR. Palin is anything BUT.... what she did on her AK program amounted to no more than a documentary. Last I checked documentaries are educational. And you may know all there is to know about Alaska, but as a former Geography teacher, I can tell you that I learned several things! And my kid did too.... when she left office, she promised to promote Alaska and she did. I’m sorry for you that THAT happens to fall during the age of computers and television and stuff, but if you’re going to promote a state and do a decent job, T.V. is a great medium!!

And are you saying that people from smaller states shouldn’t be allowed to become President? I mean it would be very difficult for someone from a small state to become Gov. of a large state..... I guess I’m just not understanding what your REAL problem is w/her... ok, she was governor, but you’re not happy about that b/c the state was small. (you might wanna check out what all her duties included that most states don’t have to deal with)... And I was always taught it doesn’t matter how important you are or how small your job is, you should excel at the one you have. Has she not excelled when she governed? From local on up to state.... Is it really that difficult to look at her record there and say: “yea, I’d like to see that nation wide”.... who IS your choice by the way???

And you sound like Rove talking about her lack of “gravitas”... I personally think “cojones” is much more important in this day that “gravitas”..... and “cojones”..well, she’s got ‘em <<<<<< rant complete.

My "problem" (as you describe it) isn't a problem, but an acknowledgement of political reality. Her political reality is that a large, overwhelming majority of the American electorate believes that she's a moron. That's her political reality, and she has demonstrated absolutely no ability, while working as a sitting governor, or after she left office, to be able to manage her own political identity.

Politics in America is about perception, nothing more. You're going out of your way to convince about Sarah Palin's competency or something. Don't. It's a waste of time because what I think of Palin, or what you think of Palin is wholly irrelevant. All that matters is what the American electorate thinks of Sarah Palin - and from ALL indicators of public opinion, it's clear that the public doesn't think much.

Until Sarah Palin can demonstrate some ability to change her own political narrative, there is NO WAY I could begin to think about supporting her for any elected office, much less president. The power of the presidency is a power almost exclusively of persuasion - if you can't persuade people - like Bush couldn't, but Reagan could - you're feckless and unproductive. Sarah Palin, in this regard, would be as bad or perhaps even worse than George W Bush, and Palin candidacy, beyond being hopeless itself, would have significant damage on down-ticket Republican candidates. Again, that's just her political reality.
