Right now I'm listening to CBS coverage of the death and recovery of Osama Bin Laden. One of the talking heads just mentioned that "this is huge" and said this closes "a chapter in the war on terror."
Bin Laden's demise is welcome news, for sure. I say that as a New Yorker, and also as someone who lost a family member in 9/11. But is it really "huge"? In the scope of global Islamic terror, does the death of Osama Bin Laden really matter?
Al Qaeda isn't like a family business - it's a worldwide movement, that's spawned countless autonomous, operationally independent spinoff groups, whose only ties to Al Qaeda are ideological. The Muslim Brotherhood is taking over Egypt. Al Qaeda allied rebel troops are being supported by NATO in Libya......

It does matter, IMO, because it shows a continuity of purpose on the part of America across two political administrations of opposite parties. It shows that it is possible to have our government keep their attention on something for more than a few news cycles.
It is also significant that we killed him. If we had “brought him to justice,” oh the theatrics that would have ensued. He needed to be dead.
The only way this could have been better is if they could him in a whorehouse eating bacon.

Why? obama never talks to his Military... if he tries to take credit... and he will... it will backfire. It will look just like the rest of his scam presidency. This will help our Military and Intel people... obama will get a short bump but that is it. Bush’s number will soar.

I say BS— Osama has been dead for years. He has been a convenient boogie-man for use by both the Bush and Obama administrations. His usefulness in that role was fading. Obama figured if people were dumb enough to buy another birth certificate fraud then arranging this event would be a piece of cake, I wonder if any actual proof will be offered. There must be some major bad news somewhere else. If this is the facade for withdrawal from Afghanistan I’m fine with that. No more American lives should be wasted there.
Freepers won’t be rushing to defend Obama. Get your head out of your behind.
