Sikhism too grew in an era of persecution. The Muslim Mughals boiled, skinned, beheaded, tortured or amputated them by the thousands. And yet, it grew - and grew and grew - to the point that it became powerful enough to overthrow the very same Muslim Mughal Empire that oppressed the movement and tried to destroy it, with a passion - all within a span of two centuries.
