Someone tell me this....Is it not strange that Obama’s mother is listed as “Caucasian” under RACE on the birth certificate shown, yet his father is listed as “African”?

Since when is “African” a race? I thought Africa was a continent....In 1961, it would seem that “Negroid” would have been listed as race for the father...

I have heard no one bring this question forward...

The federal government certainly didn't use the term "African" in 1961. The Vital Statistics of the United States used the term "Negro". "African" was not used until several years after BO/BS was born.

You must not read birther threads then, usually it is brought up several times on every thread. This could be something a simple as the father, who is not from the US, not knowing what our classification systems are so he just writes where he is from. This was at the height of the big African independence time when African identity was being pushed there so it is easy to see how someone from Africa self-identifies that way. This isn't like he was filling out hospital forms on a computer that had drop-down choices. It probably was just a line he filled in.
