I think it is a bad political strategy for conservatives to attack Donald Trump this early in the game. The conservative media, many conservative blogs, the liberal media and Freepers are going after Trump for his ideological inconsistencies.
The liberal media will use all its powers to destroy ANY GOP candidate for president. That is a given. They want Barack Obama re-elected, even if the entire country is collapsing around them and regardless if the GOP candidate was as spotless as Jesus Christ.
But, conservatives are going after Trump also.
This early in the game that is a bad strategy for us and here are the reasons:
Donald Trump, out of every GOP candidate out there, has the most power to do the most harm to Barack Obama and weaken him as a candidate for re-election.
Donald Trump doesn't fear the liberal media like the other candidates. He is willing to go every MSM media outlet and tell the truth about Barack Obama.
Donald Trump doesn't mince words about Obama and isn't afraid of the race card. Trump doesn't talk in weasley politico-speak like most of the others.
Donald Trump has the most power out of all the candidates to nip a Romney or Huckabee candidacy in the bud.
Donald Trump is willing to use his own money to go after Barack Obama and the liberals, saving conservatives hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions and ads for media. I think we conservatives under-estimate the power of free media that we get with Donald Trump's attacks on Barack Obama and his policies.
Every time we conservatives attack Donald Trump that gives the liberal media sound bites to destroy Donald Trump and his message, which is to get Barack Obama out, and it gives ammunition for Romney and Huckabee to go after Trump in the early primaries and debates.
Donald Trump isn't beholden to any GOP establishment money or establishment players who would give us Romney, who really is no better than a McCain or Bob Dole when it comes to winning a general election.
With all that being said, conservatives have every right to criticize Donald Trump for his intellectual and ideological inconsistencies, and I would never in a million years want to censor anybody for their beliefs, but RIGHT NOW, Donald Trump just being out there with his message against Obama helps us in the long run, especially before the primaries begin.
We have almost a year until the primaries begin and having Donald Trump attacking Barack Obama day after day in the media doesn't hurt conservatives, but makes it more difficult for Obama to win.
Whatever one thinks of Trump, I think it is imperative that we have somebody on our side who is willing to take the fight to other side and fight hard and point out the weaknesses, incompetence and their destruction of the US.
I am not a Trump true believer and welcome debate on this issue and would like to hear from people about the holes in my argument and their concerns.
Then what makes Trump when Rove came begging for $100 grand to fund his political groups which they got. A Republican?
On the eligibility issue, just about all of them. I'm sure you know...
Romney
Huckabee
Paul
Bachmann
and
to include most 100% of the Republican establishment.
Rove, Steele, Brewer and much much more. I'm sure I missed a few names.
Add Palin’s name to your list.
Reagan was a conservative and a Republican longer then he was a Democrat.
Your notion that a liberal bottom feeder like Trump is worth defending and/or supporting proves that you are no conservative. This thread does prove, you're a troll. Stop whining, you're not fooling anyone..
” Name me the possible candidates who are taking Obamas side?” ... Myth Romney is one of them...
Only to an extent. Palin has said there's no problem with her for Trump to ask the legitimate question about Obama's eligibility, or to question about Obama's hidden past. Palin is the least effected by the Republican establishment thinking. Palin and Trump have been supportive of each other. There are a few FR threads documenting their mutual support.
Pawlenty. I missed him in the list above.
I'm not one that is going to forget what she was saying as recently as February.
Questions about his faith and whether he meets Constitution's requirements are a "distraction"

Palin gets it right on birthers and Obama's faith

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), the Tea Party Princess, played a noxious game of dodge ball with George Stephanopoulos this morning when he asked her whether she believed that [Alleged] President Obama was born in the United States and is not a Muslim. Leave it to the Tea Party Queen -- Sarah Palin -- to show Bachmann and others in the Republican Party the right way to answer the question.
"Do you question his faith and citizenship?" Palin was asked today during an onstage interview hosted by the Long Island Association. Her answer was brief and to the point.
"I don't, and those are distractions," she said to some applause. "What we're concerned about is the economy. And we're concerned about the policies coming out of his administration and what he believes in terms of big government or private sector. So, no, the faith, the birth certificate, others can engage in that kind of conversation. It's distracting. It gets annoying and let's just stick with what really matters."
That danged Constitution thing...
For years, I’ve always thought of the Republican DC establishment were a bunch of wet noodles who couldn’t argue their way out of a wet paper bag. They are prissy little babies in suits. Trump is a large contrast to their loser-ness.
Who is, “We”?
I did say to an extent, but Palin has re-found her true feelings in her recent interviews. She still is the best we got going against the DC establishment.
The reason I like trump is that he is a ny street fighter. I live here in nyc and have to say, people really are talking about him in all corners.
Right now I am for trump sarah bachmann and cain. That’s it.
I'm so inspired.

She still is the best we got going against the DC establishment.
God help us.
Exactly. Trump is not my 100 percent candidate, but he destroys huck newt romney tpaw daniels and huntman.
We all can’t “be perfect” like us FR posters.
They don’t have to be perfect. All they have to do is follow the Constitution, like they swore to do. That’s not too much to ask.
You are the one who sounds like a liberal.
Somebody points out your hypocrisy and disagrees with you and you come out swinging with the insults.
The fact remains Ronald Reagan was a Democrat and was president of a Hollywood union. What is this nonsense of voting Republican yet registered a Democrat? You can’t get more intellectually inconsistent than that and you defend it just because he is Reagan.
I am not criticizing Reagan, because he had his own reasons for what he did. People in this world change their minds and grow up. And we should all be grateful that Reagan did.
But the fact is Reagan would have never passed your conservative litmus test today. You probably would have called him a nasty liberal troll if he was on Free Republic, because that is the only way you can deal with anybody who disagrees with you. That doesn’t show a lot of maturity and demonstrates a liberal state of mind.
But don’t worry, you can act like a Stalinist and purge everybody from Free Republic and the GOP who opposes Obama and doesn’t pass your purity tests.
All that ideological purity of yours will keep you cool at night while the rest of us live with another 4 years of Obama hell.
B.) I think a lot of freepers are overstating Trumps perceived conservative credibility issue because they have overinvested themselves in Sarah Palin who, I strongly believe, has no chance of beating Obama in a general election.
C.) Let's not forget, Ronald Reagan started his political career as a liberal democrat who absolutely supported FDR and the New Deal. Let's also not forget that Reagan too was a TV entertainer before he became POTUS and that many Americans laughed about his presidential candidacy.
