Our daughter was born in 1978 and we were not required to register her for Social Security at the time of her birth.

I got curious and checked. Apparently the law changed in 86, but they must have been passing the forms out in anticipation by 1979 and 80 (when my last 2 were born). I guess I went ahead and did it, and beat the rush. :) We lived in a small city and it was pretty easy to do there. I think I got all 3 boys done (my older son was born in a different state a couple of years before) done at the same time, but I don’t know for sure. It’s been awhile... ;)
