Eligibility verification just 1 vote from governor: OK lawmakers chasing AZ to be 1st w/requirement
WorldNetDaily ^ | April 13, 2011 | Bob Unruh

A regional tea party leader who met recently with possible GOP 2012 presidential contender Donald Trump to discuss Barack Obama's eligibility says states need to do something soon to begin closing the gap exposed in 2008 when Obama was elected and took office without documenting his qualifications under the Constitution's requirement presidents be a "natural born citizen."

And Kelly Townsend of Phoenix Tea Party just might be getting her wish, if a couple more votes fall into place and the governors involved are agreeable.

That's because two bills pending in state legislatures to require state vetting of candidates not only remain alive but are advancing.

Senate Bill 91 in Oklahoma has been approved in the Senate and is out of committee in the state House, leaving only a couple of votes before the representatives before it could be turned over to the governor.

Not complicated, it requires that all candidates – not just those for president – shall "provide proof of identity and eligibility to hold the office."

It provides that the secretary of state write up rules to specify the documentation that will be required and that such documents will be made available for public inspection.

Specifically, for presidential candidates, it requires them to "provide proof of identity" as well as citizenship and also submit an original birth document.

In Arizona, a similar plan advanced out of the state Senate and faces only a single concurrence vote in the state House before it could go to Gov. Jan Brewer.

It requires similar documentation, but also includes a provision that identifying documents for a presidential candidate could be the same ones as those used to acquire a top security clearance in the federal government....

The thing that gets me is that the states have this power anyway. They just haven’t been consistent in acting on it. They declare candidates to be ineligible all the time, just not the two major parties.

“If even one state passes something like this, he’s done.”

Sort of.

AZ bill says “Must show a birth certificate, OR.... 2 of 4 other documents....”

Then it lists things like CENSUS FORMS, BAPTISM RECORD....

I’m surprised they don’t allow ICE CREAM RECEIPT, or SILLY NOTE PASSED TO CUTE GIRL DURING MATH CLASS.

When you read the list of 4 “alternate documents,” you start visualizing Osphincter with a box of crayons and Elmer’s glue, forging them.

I don’t think it will matter. One of two things will happen, if say AZ passes a law. Whoever is empowered to make the decision about eligibility...will find Obama eligible for whatever reason. Or should AZ find Obama ineligible the left will wait until the last minute and race to the Ninth Circuit Court who will find Obama eligible and the AZ law upholding the Constitution, unconstitutional. The duty justice of the SCOTUS will not issue a stay and the SCOTUS will allow the decision to stand. Effectively taking away all states rights to set electoral policy. Mark my words. WE ARE THEIR SLAVES!

Nope, it does not work that way here. Subjection of TX has been attempted before, and it did not work very well and was short lived.

How can you say that after what happened during the 2008 election in Texas? The democrats committed election fraud. And your election chief is a republican. And there have been no successful efforts to investigate or prosecute.

Texas was one of several states that required that presidential candidates meet the constitutional requirements to hold office. What proof was provided that Obama met these requirements. Who signed off on the proof?

I never stated that Texas was free of political corruption or bad judgement, but if you think the citizens are a bunch of whimpish subjects you don’t know anything about the culture of the state.

One battle does not define a war, one event does not describe a people.

It has been this way from the beginning. Still defiant.

No, the southern border in not Secure.

And there has been NO help from DC. NONE.

Does that make us subservient?

The point is Texans are not serfs. And it is against the grain. Sure there are pockets (Austin, parts of Dallas, parts of Houston) who are so dependent on the federal teat that they consistently vote Commie Left Dem. But it is not the nature of Texans to do that.

Can the State of Texas secure our border's ourselves, certainly if we are so motivated.

The last time I looked it is still Texas out of my front door. And I expect it to remain so.

Hmmmm! Sounds like you use that term "FReeper" as a derogatory remark. If that is so, what cloth are you cut from? And where do you reside geographically.

Nothing derogatory intended. Conservative since before 64. The point was we are all their slaves presently and sadly so are the fine folks of Texas. I am not sure what level of action will be necessary to disabuse Mordor on the Potomac (Hat tip M. Church) that they are our royalty and we are their serfs...but from what I see voting isn't likely to do it. Our overlords need the fear of God put in them.

Originally a Virginian but I have been in a number of places in my life. Currently AZ. Previously VT. Interestingly, AZ which prides itself on its conservatism is in many ways not as free as the peoples socialist republic of VT. I was shocked. Here is an example. Since prices are so low I was thinking of buying a house in the area. All houses in the area have a drywall finish that I don't care for. It is intended to simulate a rustic finish. I told the builder I didn't want the drywall treatment, just leave it smooth. I was to they couldn't do that. The finish was required by the cities in the area. A number of builders have responded the same way, even after I told them I would pay them the same price for the home. I was told I could sand it off myself. Now if any government can tell you how your home's drywall has to be finished then you truly are owned by the state. Anyway, just one example there are more. It is insidious the way the libtards spread.
