In a sure sign that Donald Trumps tireless PR efforts on behalf of the Birther movement are working, Autism Speaks co-founder (and former NBC head) Bob Wright came to his interview about Autism Awareness Month prepared to prove where he was born. Following his and wife Suzannes introduction, Wright volunteered his birth certificate, eliciting a nervous laugh from Andrea Mitchell, before continuing the completely unrelated segment.
From a media perspective, this clip is another indicator that the Birther spectacle has graduated from political curiosity to pop-culture hot button. When apolitical people start showing up all over TV showing their birth certificates, that means the Birthers are Winning! in the most Charlie Sheen sense of the word.
In my opinion, though, Wright probably should retire this gag (which would have been much funnier had Mitchell offered him some Mardi Gras beads). As much as I love a good Birther dig, people who are acting as spokesmen for charities should do their best not to alienate the folks who might otherwise donate. Sadly, the Birthers now number more than half of all Republicans, and Birthers or not, everyone should consider giving to this worthy cause. Wright should leave the comedy to the comedians.

Hey Wright, you and your little charity can go straight to h***.
I guess he didn’t want any contributions from non-FOBs.
I do not see a problem with this, more people should appear on shows and bring their birth certificate with them, the issue will not go away.
See how easy and painless it is Mr. Obama?
Autism; breast cancer... I’m tired of attention-whores pimping these tragedies and the people who have to deal with them. Hottest places in hell alert.
I agree. I don’t think the headline matches the story. Made Andrea “Lisa Simpson” Mitchell nervous. hee hee
If its so easy, why doesn't BOzo show his???
I agree. If this goober can find his birth certificate and show it -- why can't the resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue show it to his employers (We the People)?
Also, I couldn't tell if this Spokesman was trying to mock President Obama or the people who are asking to see the birth certificate...
Coincidentally, I was just wondering why it is called “Autism Speaks.”
That doesn’t make sense to me. I didn’t know a condition could speak. It sounds like it would make more sense if it was “People with Autism Speak” (although that is not nearly as catchy.)
Sounds like the Autism Speaks co-founder took a shot at Obama, not Birthers, and that whoever wrote the title screwed up.
I get the same vibes from these people as you.
I’m sure you’re also aware of the Komen-Planned Parenthood link, too.
Autism = Obama’s Citizenship????
And what does THAT have to do with the price of bread?????
Good gawd, MSM. You’re DESPERATE!!!!
Donald Trump, Jr., and his wife were on Fox & Friends last week on behalf of an Autism charity.
You’re doing a great job at Trump tracking for us, and it has been informative and fun! His voice against Obama is almost too good to be true isn’t it? Maybe it isn’t.
From reading the excerpt, it looks like the people who wrote this article spun this incident to be 180 degrees from its original meaning.
It really makes no sense claiming that a guy showing his birth certificate is making fun of birthers, not Obama.
But then again, I haven’t gone to the link yet.
The stakes are high. The established Lame Media, Obama and the Democrat party, and the complicit Republican leadership are all going go down if Obama is totally exposed that even the most delusional can’t deny.
Awesome, I may make a donation.
BTW I have a son with a form of Autism; I am just sick of our betters insulting us and then demanding money for their pet cause.
I will never forget the title of an op-Ed in the WSJ oh so long ago: "The Victim as Hero."
Apparently we've been wrong all these years: pimping is the oldest profession.
