From reading the excerpt, it looks like the people who wrote this article spun this incident to be 180 degrees from its original meaning.

It really makes no sense claiming that a guy showing his birth certificate is making fun of birthers, not Obama.

Oh yeah. They swarm this city every year about this time with their dog-and-pony show of thinly veiled sanctimony. It's repulsive; any "good" they actually do is coincidental to their political organizing. Its another power play; there's a plantation for everyone, apparently.
