The whole debate on whether an American could travel there at that time I’ve never found a clear answer on.

From 1979-1987 I worked closely with US citizens who travelled freely from the US to Pakistan and back again.

There have never been any travel restrictions for US passport holders to visit Pakistan, not from 1947-2011.

Is that clear enough?

There has been absolutely no evidence ever shown that 0bama had a legal American passport in 1981.
