I saw Sec. Gates last night on C-span answering questions from congressmen about Libya. His utter incoherence was astounding: Our mission was strictly humanitarian and not regime change. There will be NO boots on the ground. BUT, regime change would be a good and desireable thing; We must support the rebel forces BUT they harbor terrorist forces who are even worse that Gadaffi. America is not acting unilaterally BUT NATO is being run by America. According to the Constitution, Congress must be consulted about waging a war. BUT, “consultation” consisted of telling a few congressmen that a decision had already been made. And so it went. By the time it was over it was clear that this administration hadn’t the foggiest notion of what was going on, much less formulate any coherent strategy or policy.
