Though the close relationship with Ayers/Dohrn has been discredited by BHO and sources, it’s probable they knew each other before Chicago ... they were both in NY for college.

Ayers’ terrorism is well know obviously, but also likely his/WeatherUnderground’s savvy in getting fake ID’s back then .. which was a breeze compared to now.

But the implication being made is important: Bernardine Dohrn committed identity theft in late ‘79 and early ‘80, and the fake drivers’ licenses obtained with those stolen identities were used by Weather Underground members to rent getaway vehicles for armed robberies committed in the suburban New York area in the early ‘80s. Subsequent armed robbies by the same group — including the Brinks robbery — also utilized the exact same technique:

stolen identities were once again used to obtain fake licenses which were then used to rent getaway cars.

What the article does not state directly, but what is clearly hinted at in the final sentence of the quote, is that Bernardine Dohn continued to be the source of the stolen identities. If so, she had a direct connection to the Brinks robbery, working behind the scenes.

This New York Times article was referenced (but not quoted) recently in this April 23, 2008 article in the Chicago Tribune, which stated:

At Broadway Baby, customers often paid by check and used driver’s licenses for identification.

On Dec. 28, 1979, information from two customer files was used to apply for two driver’s licenses at the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. The fraudulent licenses were used to rent getaway cars for the gang.

Investigators tracked the identities on two licenses for the getaway cars. The names belonged to women who had shopped at Broadway Baby in December 1979. But they weren’t robbers.

And who was the manager of Broadway Baby during that period of the customer ID theft?

Dohrn, the future [Note: they were actually already married] wife of Ayers, identified by investigators as taking customer information from one, and possibly both, of the women shoppers. Dohrn was never charged in that case.

Dohrn and Ayers had been running for some 11 years, fleeing federal charges that they instigated riots in Chicago in 1969. They finally came in out of the cold in 1980, but the New York gang continued its spree, ending in the bloody 1981 robbery in Rockland County that left a Brinks security guard and two police officers dead.
