Me too! If I’m ever helpless and incapacitated, may everyone around me be “holier than thou” so I won’t be murdered.
One of my friends has a completely incapacitated child with cerebral palsy. They hope that, someday, modern medicine will produce a miraculous treatment ... but meanwhile, they (with considerable help from the county) care for their child as if she were a newborn, year after year. They also have a child with Down’s Syndrome. That’s being holier than I am, if only because I haven’t faced those challenges.
Frank ran into the wall and needed stitches last week. He could have jumped out the window and been permanently paralyzed, because Pat has told all the brothers they can levitate, if they try hard enough. Any of us, or any of our children, could, at any time, be the one *they* want to kill. All we can do is be determined not to be one of *them*.
