I met this guy at a conference where he was a keynote speaker and have read his blog since. He leans supply side and monetarist. In this post, he points out a truth that many of the left and right seem oblivious to. Since (most) Freepers deal with truth, I thought I would pass it along.

It might surprise you that the U.S. continues to lead the world in manufacturing output.Given the facts that;
A)We have massive merchandise trade deficits.
B)We have an unemployment rate of 10% and an underemployment rate over 20%.
We need to produce a whole lot more here.

The company I’m retired from has added a boatload of computer devices to their many factories (about 140 factories worldwide). As a result, factory enrollment is down but efficiencies and output are way up. Loss, Damage and waste are down. Output per worker hour is at all time highs but, yes, jobs have been lost since the company doesn’t need people to correct mistakes like they used to. That’s not a tragedy, that’s progress.
