THOUSANDS of Tea Party Patriots turned out today in Madison, Wisconsin, in support of Republican Governor Scott Walker and his plans to correct the states financial future. It was an amazing turnout considering the Saturday rally was only announced on Friday morning. Oh And we paid our own way.
The tea party patriots filled the state capital grounds from the steps to the street over 100 yards back. There were so many Walker supporters there that you couldnt here the speakers from the stage in the back of the crowd.
The AP today estimated that 70,000 protesters turned out in Madison today. If that number is accurate then at least 15,000 were Walker supporters. This was a huge embarrassment to the left.
Heres a shot from behind the stage looking out at the massive crowd today.
More Heres a photo that shows about half of the tea party crowd today on the left side of the stage, via Instapundit.
It was a HUGE success.
Looks like a nice turnout for half a day’s notice.
Excellent!
Hence the stories about the unions offering “concessions”.
I don’t know if I totally agree with the loss of collective barganing for public employee unions which has been proposed, but certainly agree that their wage and benfit demands need to be brought to heel with financial reality!
It was awesome indeed, but also it can be exploited.
Other agencies are trying to start similar events in other states, and I bet they presume the Tea Party will also follow suit.
It just looks to me like the Tea Party is the one being taught to jump through the hoops is all.
We’re looking at Pickett’s Charge here. The High-Water mark of the public employee’s union Confederacy.
As others have noted; it ain’t the money and benefits, it’s the matter of union dues no longer being automatically deducted from worker’s paychecks and unions having to vote to be reauthorized every year. That spells finito.
Within a few days or a week at the most one of those fourteen dem state senators is going to break ranks and rush home in an attempt to save his/her electoral chances. It only takes one to make a quorum and then it will be all over.
The Governor is not going to bend, public opinion is turning on this bunch big time. All the lib and DNC and SEIU thugs and Soros-bucks are not going to forestall the inevitable. They’re shooting their wad here and they know it.
From one person to all of those that were part of either being there or supporting the Governor of Wisconsin I am proud of you, proud of you standing firm on principles, proud of your voices and colors that did not waiver and did not run.
Let’s remember one thing: the Governor has proposed suspending collecting bargaining ONLY OVER HEALTH CARE AND PENSION BENEFITS!
He is NOT proposing eliminating collective bargaining over wages!
The Communists in those unions are lying as well as they always do. That’s how Obama got elected. he was able to dupe the electorate with his lies. We no longer believe anything this guys says.
Just fantastic, and let the union goons collapse under their own weight.
When there is a change in political administration, very high level, policy making executives need to be replaced. The public made a change and wants new direction. What you DON’T want is to have the rank and file “drones” - the cops, teachers, clerical staff etc purged and replaced with party hacks. So you have a Civil Service System to prevent that.
But Civil Servants serve at the pleasure of the tax paying public, and, as such, should have their salaries, benefits and responsibilities fixed by management. They should NOT have bargaining units represent them. All too often, as in New Jersey, they use their muscle and money to intimidate or bribe elected officials into outrageous benefits for their clients and block removal of inefficient employees.
What bothers me about the Wisconsin situation is the Governor’s exemption of the Police Union from this action. The Teachers Unions and the Law Enforcement Unions are the most EGREGIOUS violators of the public trust when it comes to extortion, intimidation and outright bribery of elected officials to secure outrageous benefits.
Here in New Jersey, the PBA, FOP and NJEA have been the BIGGEST feeders at the public trough, outside of the politicians themselves.
“He is NOT proposing eliminating collective bargaining over wages!”
He SHOULD. And so should every other governor and the Law Enforcement Unions should be included.
It was reported as “hundreds” on network radio news. Not sure, but I think it was ABC.
This turnout of Tea Party People is GREAT. But we have to do better.
We must turn out more taxpayers than the number of goons generated by the Obama Administration.
This is about more than just money. Its about political power. For too long, the Civil Service Unions have used their power to effect public policy and support candidates of their choice - generally the liberal Democrats who are so generous with taxpayer dollars. They MUST be broken.
But we do, ZULU. How do you think Walker got elected?
ABC and See-BS are no longer news organs. They are propaganda machines for the Obama Administration. They have glossed over the DISMAL economic barometers under this charlatan but the trumpeted every nickel rise in the price of gas or increase in unemployment under Bush II.
They do the same thing about deliberately downplaying ANY conservative rallies on ANY subject from taxes to abortion to the Second Amendment. They are insidious.
I mean at these public rallies.
Public employee unions should not be allowed to strike on public paid time and against public voted interests.
Public employee unions should not be allowed to strike on public paid time and against public voted interests.
Public employee unions should not be allowed to strike on public paid time and against public voted interests.
Less Government - More Beer!
