Among the Elites, there always seems to be a strain of those who would just appease and ultimately surrender to the Enemy. This was true for Nazism, Communism, and (now) Islamic Fundamentalism. I suspect that part of it is an aversion to Democracy, which (to them) is a messy, dirty business. Much better to have an ideology that allows one to govern by decree or editorial.

“Among the Elites, there always seems to be a strain of those who would just appease and ultimately surrender to the Enemy.”

They don’t see themselves surrendering. What they see is a chance to knock off the only real enemy on their horizon, Constitutionalists, Right-winger, whatever they believe conservatives are. They plan to keep this ally, multiculturalism and Islamism. What they lack is the vision to see long-term what strengthening this enemy will mean for them.

I often wondered what the Arabs, who worked with the Nazis to eliminate the Jews, thought the end game would be. It seems obvious that no Arab fit the Arian superiority mold, but both parties kept up a successful cooperation toward their shared goals.

I recall a Far Side cartoon where this cow is sitting at the campfire with the cowpokes. It says, “And, tomorrow just after dawn there will be a stampede. The ringleader is Daisy. Remember, when we get to Laramie you let Me go.”

The Left’s alternative to choosing Islam as their ally is to choose some right-wing, conservative evil b*st*rd. That guy might make your kids say the Pledge of Allegiance or something awful. It’s much better to work with the guy who wants your kid to wear a suicide vest. Suicide is self-actualization, don’tchaknow?
