Not only HORRIBLE, but disrespectful too. I HATE it when these so-called “stars” decide OUR National Anthem is fair game for their interpretation and “artistic impression”. Sing the song the way it was meant to be sung, or DON’T SING IT. All those extra voice inflections, pauses, and drawn out notes inserted at her whim made a mockery of the Anthem. Just HORRIBLE.

I guess she is a real good singer; however, I don't like these jazzed up versions of our national anthem. I prefer to sing it straight.

People don't know there are three other stanzas our national anthem as I found out when I sang it at a campfire sing-a-long HERE

I missed a little in singing all four stanzas, but I think I got it without any real flubs.

Agreed. HORRIBLE. It's become a moment of entertainment instead of a moment of respect for our country. Do any entertainers know how to sing a note and sustain it any more? If they did, they wouldn't need to do all that zigzagging around the note.

Yup...the drama and atmospherics of the song are in the words, and what they memorialize, not in the "snip and fix time at the kennel" wailing that people think is so cool these days. Sing the song the way it was meant to be sung, and let the words provide the drama!

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

I remember when Whitney Houston sang it at the Super Bowl during Gulf War I. She did the inflections, pause, etc. and it was just BEAUTIFUL.

Ever since then, it seems that these Prima Donnas singing in subsequent Super Bowls want to try to "out-Whitney" Whitney ...

And they ALL fail miserably ...
