I think I'll put together a modest kit and take a hike with it; There's a few miles of slightly rough woodland trail maintained by my development, but seemingly nobody uses it, so I'll put it to use. These are really good skills to have even without a SHTF scenario.

Obviously can't pack weapons though.

That’s the ticket. It also pays to drive or walk your escape routes in your spare time. I’ve got several ways out of my work area. It helps that I’m less than a hundred yards or so away from an industrial area and a huge train yard.
