After mostly following the great debate between Freepers here, and their arguments and proofs, I've concluded that the man simply doesn't meet the special requirements of 'natural born' citizenship status, regardless of where his birth is, or was, or will be, whenever someone gets around to definitively pinning it down with hard proof.
I will admit that his real BC seems to be like the Holy Grail or the Ark of the Covenant. Everyone wants to find it and show proof, but no one can! It's like gold! Very very precious and must be kept behind ten foot thick walls of steel with armed guards and snarling, growling, spittle-flying rottweilers.
And I don't buy the claptrap of Obama using it to make his enemies "look bad" either. The elections leading up to and including 2010 went heavily against him. If he's holding out on producing a valid BC in order to call his opponents "kooks" and hoping to have it stick, it isn't really working all that well for him. He has rabid leftists, the leftist media, and 90% of Blacks (some of whom fall into the previous two groups) solidly behind him. Then there's everyone else, or a large % of the rest, who "question" his fierce guarding of his life-history. The fact that he's hiding so much about his past implies the use of Occam's razor. Something is very, very wrong, and he needs to hide it. Duh.
There might be something to the argument that they set the BC issue up to divert attention away from the NBC status and his British Subject father, but while the BC issue might be a red-herring, it isn't preventing anyone from digging deeper and deeper into Obama's lack of a provable past. I've seen the list of stuff he's hiding, and it's a long, long, list. The BC is just one item on it.
I do understand why people want to find the real BC though. It could topple him fast if he was born off of US soil, as most of the masses could understand that, while understanding that he's unqualified to be POTUS due to his father takes more study and argument.
I have no problem saying that Obama is probably a citizen of this nation due to his mother. But a 'natural born' citizen? No. The founders only used that term once in the constitution, and it was for the qualification of POTUS. Vattel proves what the founders meant by that one, special, and not insignificant term. NBC requires TWO citizen parents at the time of birth. Obama is not an NBC.
