I didn’t say Nixon wasn’t guilty. I just pointed out that he was bluffed into resigning.
I'm no expert on the make-up of the Senate at the time, but I don't recall many suggesting that Nixon could beat the rap. I was expecting that he would be convicted in the Senate and removed from office. I was among those who was outraged that Ford "pardoned" Nixon without detailing what crimes were being pardoned.
