Here in Eastern Idaho it is predominantly Mormon. Our Sen. Mike Crapo is (fairly) conservative. Being a local boy he tries to serve the wishes of his base. I’ve done some cabinet work for them. They have a very modest home. And his wife really doesn’t want anything to do with the politics. Just stays home as much as possible.

So I guess we are lucky in that respect. Red State. Conservative representation.

But at his re-election speeches he just kept saying what was wrong with the economy, etc. We know what the hell is wrong Mike. What we want to know is what YOU are going to DO.

We’ll see. But I ain’t holding my breath.

I'm not Mormon but was born in Blackfoot, grew up in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho State in Pocatello. I'm very familiar with the demographic. My great grandfather was the first homesteader on the Blackfoot River.

Here in CA I have a Republican Congressman, Elton Gallegly, who's acting much the same way as Mike Crapo, following and not leading. All politicians think about is reelection. Sadly, as Los Angelenos migrate to my little town away from the liberal hell they've created for themselves, Ventura county is becoming more and more liberal. I suspect our politicians will reflect that trend rather than stand up for real conservative principles. Barring a miracle I think CA's kaput.
