Lt. Col. Ralph Peters blames Obama for US soldier deaths in Afghanistan. In a pithy appearance on The OReilly Factor last night, Peters was brought on as a guest to discuss the frustrating situation in Afghanistan, especially in light of a new poll that disappointingly shows that most Americans now think the Afghanistan war was not worth fighting. The release of the Afghanistan progress report yesterday provided Peters with another target for analysis, but his entire appearance essentially boiled down to one point that many Americans likely concur with: US soldiers keep dying in Afghanistan and the US keeps supporting the corrupt Hamid Karzai because Obama does not know what hes doing.

US soldiers keep dying in Afghanistan and the US keeps supporting the corrupt Hamid Karzai because Obama does not know what hes doing.
In my book that is a given for Afghanistan,———and for everything else Obama touch’s.
he’s a great vacationer though.
Mr. Peters is right on the mark!!! Obama has no redeeming qualities at all!!! The sooner the American people dump him and his “traitor” Democrat Party, the better off our entire nation will be. This buffoon, Obama is in rough seas as the Captain, but he is a Captain that does not know how to steer the ship!!! I blame the American voters for falling for this flim/flam idiot of a human being!!!
Author and Colonel limit choices to (1) keep being inept and allowing GIs to die or (2) pull out and let terrorists take Af back over again. Of course Bambi is inept and a coward. He does not want to escalate war to “pacify” the whole area because he fears his left. He does not want to pull out and surrender because he knows the American propels would not want that. So he stalls, raises casualties and hopes the American people will sicken of the war. Everyone knows the problem lies in Pakistan, the refuge of both Al Qaeda and Taliban. Direct action against Pakistan is therefore required to win but this would inflame Islamic extremists against the Pak government and lead to Extremist take over of government and nukes. Another big problem is total corruption and mental illness of Karzai. But who to take his place? If we install a puppet, that won’t work either.
I can’t even begin to tell you have many times I’ve heard that argument that “we can’t get rid of XXX because they are irreplacable”. BS. No one is irreplacable. Someone else always steps up and they are usually an improvement.
Afghanistan is not worth one American life if we cant fight to win. Karzai is one of the most corrupt leaders of any country, he is a Taliban sympathizer and continues to restrict our ability to win. Coupled with Obama’s disdain for fighting his fellow muslims and there is no way we can win. Either Karzai has to go or we should and prepare to fight them here once again.
How about this, maybe Karzai has cast his lot with the Taliban because he learned the lessons of Vietnam.....we will tire and leave and the Taliban will not be defeated and will win in the end?
"All Hands! The Captain has the conn!"
Captain Obama: "What does Connecticutt have to do with this mess I'm in?"
So do I. hussein obama's ROE are insane.
Does anybody truly believe that we will ever tame that land of tribal pedophiles and women haters?
Our adventure in that non-country will finally end and it will be the same as it always was. We won’t even make a dent.
Oh I didn’t say Karzai is irreplacable. Far from it. I just don’t know who else is available. They had an election, which K screwed with, but media did not tell us who else was involved etc. Just shallow “news” about how Karzai was doing in the horse race, Who were other horses?? Quien sabe?
And he is absolutely correct.
From the New York Post in 2009 :
New Rules of Engagement:
* Unless our troops in combat are absolutely certain that no civilians are present, they're denied artillery or air support.
* If any civilians appear where we meet the Taliban, our troops are to "break contact" -- to retreat.
A report from Sept 9, 2009:
Four U.S. Marines died Tuesday when they walked into a well-laid ambush by insurgents in Afghanistans eastern Kunar province. Seven Afghan troops and an interpreter for the Marine commander also died in the ambush and the subsequent battle, which lasted seven hours.
Airstrikes by coalition forces in Afghanistan have dropped dramatically in the three months Gen. Stanley McChrystal has led the war effort there, reflecting his new emphasis on avoiding civilian casualties and protecting the population
The shift is the result of McChrystals new directives - , said Air Force Col. Mark Waite, an official at the air operations center in southwest Asia. Ground troops are less inclined to call for bombing or strafing runs, though they often have an aircraft conduct a show of force, a flyby to scare off insurgents, or use planes for surveillance, Waite said.
( Note: the directives McChrystal was following were issued by Obama )
Dashing from boulder to boulder, diving into trenches and ducking behind stone walls as the insurgents maneuvered to outflank us, we waited more than an hour for U.S. helicopters to arrive, despite earlier assurances that air cover would be five minutes away.
U.S. commanders, citing new rules to avoid civilian casualties, rejected repeated calls to unleash artillery rounds at attackers dug into the slopes and tree lines despite being told repeatedly that they werent near the village.
AMEN!!!
> ... a new poll that disappointingly shows that most Americans now think the Afghanistan war was not worth fighting.
The war is not worth fighting with the rules that have been in place sice 2001. You can’t win a war by imposing political correctness. You win wars by killing the enemy without restrictions. If you kill a few civilians accidentally, the others will get the message and make themselves scarce the next time, so they won’t get killed.
No soldier should have to get permission to defend himself or kill the enemy. There will always be a few dead civilians. It’s the cost of waging war. Let our military be a ruthless as the enemy and we can win this.
I don’t think anyone ever said that Bush was “irreplacable”.
