He tries to drive traffic FROM FR to his site. He doesn't try to drive traffic from his site to FR.Is that not true of every single thread on FR which has to be excerpted?
One example of driving TO FR is that the threads are posted to twitter and facebook. So if Christopher posts a thread, people come and see that thread and also look around the other posts.
I came here because of a thread a long time ago posted by littlegreenfootballs. (Not that that is a site I would frequent any longer since Charles moved to the dark side - but that's another story.)

Is that not true of every single thread on FR which has to be excerpted?The Logan's Warning blog does not have to be excerpted.
The only reason I can think that one would excerpt an article that is not on FR's excerpt list is to drive traffic to his blog.
The only other reason is if the article is too long, and that does not appear to be the case here.
