"Barbara Bush Should Shut Up," says Dan Riehl. Oh no. Not our Bar. Painful to acknowledge, but after a lifetime of embracing the former first lady's persona of outspoken authenticity, we have to admit she no longer speaks to us. See below for details. Above, GHWB and Barbara in a Larry King interview that will air Monday.

ROFL...sure it does. Lame. Hey let’s give the country over to the socialists because I didn’t like her voice. what are you 10?
Palin: “Sarah is all class”, Hildy wrote:
What does that have to do with what I asked?
ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT POST!!!!
It was a comment that got me thinking, altura....why did W drink? Perhaps, could it be that there was more of a "Sarah-side" to him than Momma Bush wanted to see -- onyx brought up the point about Mom & Dad calling Clinton their "Adopted Son" - how'd yah think that made W feel? Perhaps, just perhaps...this little "peek under the pearls" with Bar shows more truth about what W had to live with than she realizes. Maybe Mom & Dad always wanted a son who could "play the game and go to the right schools" and W truly was the kind hearted, feel the pulse of America Sarah type, but could never show that side of himself. Remember how Mom & Dad thought Jeb would be a better choice for Pres? How'd yah think THAT made W feel? I think the reason W uses the word "swamp" when he refers to getting back "into" it with political comments, is telling as to why he doesn't want to HAVE to prove or say another thing. It's over, he worked his butt off to please his parents, his donors, and combine that with who he really was...and he's tired of it.
Look back at all the ways Laura used to snicker when she would have to comment about Bar...remember those oh...she's a pistol type comments? I'm betting that the reason many of us were drawn to W in the first place, was how he reminded us of a real person, like Sarah; and that the elitist side Mom is showing could be the reason Dad didn't get another term and W got two.
There's a lot more to a sentence when you see the facial expression, altura...there was a LOT there given in a short, very spontaneous moment.
“Sarah Palin has a huge place on the political stage. But I dont see why everyone is so surprised she said this.”
I’ll tell you why everybody is surprised at Barbara Bush. My wife and I are conservatives and find Barbara’s position on abortion etc repugnant. But we’ve always respected her and thought she was a lovely first lady.
But in reality, she has proven with her snarky little elitist statement with tone to mock, Barbara has proven she is just a low rent piece of trash with nice pearls.
Thanks for the ping!
The remark sounded scripted and rehearsed to me.
LOL! He was great!
I love that photo. :)
LOL!
:o)
“Dont you dare tell me to shut up on FreeRepublic.”
Well, give me your e-mail and I’ll tell you to shut up there instead.
I thought it was kind of funny myself.
“Personally, I find her voice a tad too high & screechy.
But maybe Im not allowed to say that.”
You’re perception of her voice should certainly rule her out as a candidate.
Barbara Bush had no class. She was an abortion supporting country clubber RINO that thinks her last name has some divine right to the “throne”... She’s a freakin’ Republican Kennedy.
The Bushes were nothing but social climbers; not a self-made man like Ronald Reagan. That’s why Poppa Bush sat there “shellacked” when Reagan manned up and said “I’m paying for this microphone”... he had never witnessed testicular fortitude before... probably wanted to pee his pants.
RonDog, an outstanding post!
Its easy and oh so populist to pander to Larry King...”Oh Palin should stay in Alaska...” What about any not so PC criticism of Obama? He’s off limits...yet he controls policy and can sign Executive Orders and make law...and what can Palin do (other than win in 2012?) nothing but Tweet and FaceBook, right...Barbara Bush should have known better!
I can’t believe it, but I will quote Jesse Jackson...stay outta da Bushes.”
“By the way, in 1987, after my first visit to the United States, Vice President Bush accompanied me to the airport, and told me: “Reagan is a conservative. An extreme conservative. All the blockheads and dummies are for him, and when he says that something is necessary, they trust him. But if some Democrat had proposed what Reagan did, with you, they might not have trusted him.””
- former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, November 16, 2009 Nation magazine
