I agree. Unfortunately the news helo cameraman was simply fooled by the perspective on the airliner contrail.

The following LAX airport webcam still shows the contrail heading for the coast and not away as the cameraman stated.

In fact, the airborne cameraman was someone who early on said it was not a missile!
