We love porridge with real maple syrup and cream. When the oats are soaked over night, it cooks in very little time.

1 cup regular oats
1 cup warm water mixed with 2 Tbls yogurt or kefir
Soak at room temp for at least 7 hours

In the morning boil 1 cup water with 1/2 tsp sea salt. Add oats and cook for a few minutes. Top with the syrup and lots of cream.

Quick cooking oats topped with milk and sugar don't even come close to this.

Left overs can be reheated for another breakfast or used to make fried mush, which tastes much better than it sounds :).
