I am so old I recall folks in Texas used to have “Don’t mess with Texas” bumper stickers on their trucks.

Yeah Texas used to have pick up trucks on their roads!

Still far more pickups than cars. And a lot of us are armed. License or not. Us country boys can survive.

They still have trucks... check a bit to the west in Sealy... but you might find they do not cotton to black pnathers there.
