Now that Fox News contributor Juan Williams has been dropped from National Public Radio, the liberal website Media Matters for America is now targeting Mara Liasson, the last remaining NPR correspondent who works with Fox News.
NPRs Mara Liasson and her long-running association with Fox News has often raised questions. This might be the proper time for NPR to finally address that thorny issue, wrote Media Matters columnist Eric Boehlert Thursday in a post entitled What about Mara Liasson? [I]f you look at NPRs code of ethics, theres simply no way Liasson should be making appearances on Fox.
Boehlert cited an official NPR document that says employees may not make media appearances that are harmful to the reputation of NPR or the NPR participant or where the employees appearance may appear to endorse the agenda of a group or organization.
Boehlert said that since Fox News pushes a political agenda, Liassons association violates the organizations code of ethics.
In 2009, it was reported that NPR pressured Liasson to cut her ties with Fox News, a network she has contributed to since 1997. Liasson did not immediately return a request for comment.
Media Matters and NPR both announced this week they were receiving million-dollar grants from left-wing billionaire George Soros.
Comment? They acknowledged taking money from him, they dont care. These folks stand together you gotta give em props on that. R’s and conservatives, well we beat the hell out of each other.
This might be a good day for Fox to fire him, too.
Fox News’ Special Report is must-see TV tonight to see if Liasson kowtows.
I have been watching Special Report since its first airing with Brit Hume during the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal. Liasson was a regular guest on his panel. I haven't seen her on that panel for a very long time. Maybe, once a month if that. Also, she was a regular on the Fox Sunday program; again, haven't seen her regularly on that show either.
I think she has pulled back substantially on her appearances on Fox. Not that I'm complaining; but, I think she has already been cowed by NPR. Perhaps she will pull out of her association with Fox completely now; but, she has already ramped down her appearances a lot.
That makes me wonder if that's what Beck has cooking on the back burner right now. He must have something juicy on Soros.
Don’t you just love liberals? Devoted to the false diversity of skin color and opposed to any dirversity of ideas.
I agree. If they can get that kind of money from one donor, they don't need my tax dollars. Time to de-fund NPR and PBS.
We need to somehow spread the word that NPR is racist for firing Williams. This needs to be a “codeword” like the demos give to their propaganda arm (the media), so that everyone uses it. Blitz the media and NPR with the word that NPR is racist, put them them back on their heels and keep them there. I rarely agreed with Williams on anything, but this isn’t about him, it’s about NPR and the liberal media. Williams can be our Horst Wessel.
They are totalitarians. This helps explain the firing of Juan Williams; it reveals the true motive, which is to prevent any Liberal from associating with FOX NEWS.
How much am I supposed to care about what happens to these liberals?————
Are you serious?
It isn’t about the ‘liberals’ it’s about Islam killing free speech in America, well and other countries. It’s about the left squashing the right to speak openly...IT IS ABOUT YOU.
I’ve written a longer post on this, but Liasson does not appear very often, any more, on Special Report or Fox Sunday.
“First they came for the communists, and I did not speak outbecause I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak outbecause I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for meand there was no one left to speak out for me.”

Media Matters and NPR both announced this week they were receiving million-dollar grants from left-wing billionaire George Soros.Thanks 2ndDivisionVet. NPR's mindless drones will of course lap up the Koolaid, just as they always do.
Libtards in the media, you make think you are the hunter, but make not mistake, YOU ARE NOW THE HUNTED!!!! Along with your idealogical brothers in government and universities.
Ijust read an article from 12/2009 where NPR officials asked Mara to give up her Fox appearances, and asked to watch Fox for 30 days and their spin on things since Obama took the White House. She said she saw no difference and continues at Fox. Apparently they did not want Fox mentioning that Juan was a contributor at NPR. Looks like Juan gave them a petty excuse to dump him, and they have been waiting quite awhile to do it.
Well put. Political correctness is the enemy of free and honest speech. Islamists are just the latest protected category of people about whom one cannot speak honestly.
There...I feel better now.
I think it’s obvious that the Soros millions came with the caveat that only hard-left orthodoxy will be tolerated on National ‘Public’ Radio from now on. Juan Williams had to go, no matter what he said, because he had the audacity to be a regular commentator on Fox News, which the left - and specifically, George Soros - loathes. Mara Liasson will be the next to go. NPR just needs a pretext...anything will do. Once Soros targets you as even slightly disloyal to leftist ideology, you’re done, if he has anything to say about it. Now, at NPR, he does.
I once saw Mara on FOX claiming there were too many White people in the Republican party. Can you imagine her saying there are too many Blacks in...well, any group?
Screw her! Let the caretakers of political correctness eat their own.
