Weren’t the Doobies one of the first rock bands to approach music as a business venture? They had pension plans for roadies, profit sharing, a system of fines for not practicing, etc.? Maybe that’s why they aren’t in the hall because they were viewed as a company rather than a band.
Not sure, but if so that’d certainly have been after their 86 reunion. They didn’t seem the kind to be that responsible in the 70s - maybe I’m wrong.
The reason given as to why the HOF hasn’t nominated the Doobies is because they had too many different members over the years. That’s a cop-out if I ever heard one.
Steeley Dan is in there and they’ve had more members than the NY Yankees.
Chicago is in there and they’ve had more members in them than Lindsay Lohan.
Personally, I think it’s a personal issue involving Jan Wenner of Rolling Stone magazine who reportedly once said the Doobies would never be inducted to the HOF (for whatever reason) maybe he has a personal issue with the Doobies. Maybe they didn’t autograph his album. Or kiss his ass enough. Whatever. The Hall of Fame is a JOKE until and unless they acknowledge the 40 year career of the Doobies... who are still going stronger and better. Their career has been longer and more enduring than half the groups in there. I mean, come on... the STOOGES have more right to be in the HOF than the DOOBIES? I rest my case.
