Glenn Beck is no stranger to public criticism. Usually, that criticism comes from entrenched critics. But today, Beck was chided by some of his most loyal fans. Whats got everyone so upset?
Becks stance on playing dress-up.
Recently, Beck started imploring Tea Party supporters to lose the costumes, and homemade signs, so as not to give detractors ammunition. ( ... )
He repeated the charge on this mornings radio show, taking umbrage with one costume in particular: Whats more effective, you as Betsy Ross or you as somebody who looks just like their neighbor, not dressed as Betsy Ross?
( ... )
Im not saying you cant go dressed as Betsy Ross or the Statue of Liberty that would be a totalitarian state
[But] if you want to truly make a difference, it is now time that the Tea Party takes the next step.
And first impressions make all the difference.

Done it myself before.
I think your post is why he doesnt want people bringing signs. There are quite a few people who will use the wrong word or incorrect grammar on a sign, and ABC will only show that.
Unless you mean the lesson of the troops, I believe the word you were looking for is morale. If you showed up with moral, your sign would be on ABC showing that Tea Partier’s dont know the right words.
And how has Beck always been a terrible strategist? What were any of his strategies? Which ones failed?

I don’t think you need to wear suits and it’s really less about signs and costumes then about not giving the mainstream media a sign or costume that they can twist into making conservative protesters look like extremists and freaks, because that’s definitely their mission. They carefully edit the worst freaks out of left-wing protests so that left-wing protesters don’t have to worry about things like nude protesters, anti-semitic signs, death threats, calls for the destruction of America, Truthers, and so on because the media will never show such things to the public. But you have one person yell “kill him” at a Palin rally at the mention of Bill Ayers’ name and the news cycles are dominated for days with stories about how dangerous conservatives are.
Then why worry about it when you admit they are going to do their best to make us look bad anyway. I have never understood why so many people in life worry about what others think about them.
We do not need to give the EVIL ONES ammunition to use and you know they are looking for any little crack to chide us with on the nightly news.
The Glenn Beck rally was perfect, dignified, peaceful, clean and showed professionalism by all who attended. This is who we really are.
I don't remember the MLK march that had any signs, maybe I missed it, but mostly remember those people arm in arm, defiantly marching, and it was quite scary. They were not afraid of anyone and showed it. Lets copy them, we too are a FORCE to be reckoned with.
I agree the MSM is never going to stop searching for the one whacko in the group so why try to please them? I say “dress up” and have a big freakin conservative party. Glenn only has himself to answer to. He gets the big platform for hours everyday and now he has “deemed” that teapartiers need to drop their signs and costumes?? I don’t think so. Drive the left nuts because you can’t please them. This really is a free country and I love the people who are fighting to be free.
Well, since he cant make you do anything, and he just said that you shouldnt, I would say that you are over-reacting and that nobody is telling you what to do. But be the proud victim if it makes your night.
So we are to let the media and our betters dictate how we protest? No thanks. Let freedom ring!
And how has Beck always been a terrible strategist? What were any of his strategies? Which ones failed?”
Islam is the curse of all free men and Mr Beck chooses to completly Ignore it for one,and second he should be giving Ideas for signs and costumes..
The people who wear those costumes and hold the signs helped put him where he is now!!One NEVER forgets where he came from.
It is really sad to me that so many on this thread think they have to conform to their standards. Who made them or Beck boss Tea!
Beck is just a little piece of the puzzle to me. I’m hoping the conservative groundswell gains momentum until it sweeps the creeps away in November.
I love dressing up at Halloween, but at political events, I just want to look like myself. I think that’s an anti-elite stance. As Popeye would say, “I yam who I yam.” Maybe it’s an anti-furry stance, but leave the goofy costumes at home. I’d prefer to see them at half-time during the football game.
Warning to American Patriots:
You dont need a leader. You are a leader of yourself.
I am not a victim cause I don’t give a flying F^%k what you or anyone else thinks of me. Many other people feel the same and are not worried that ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, or others think about them either.
Too many people of this thread are starting to sound like Rove with his new standard.
But the tea parties are bigger than what Beck wants.
Should we ask that re-enactor to stop wearing Rev War garb because it might embarrass Beck?
How in the world does he expect us to enforce such a thing?
He is not the tea party leader, and he kinda just jumped the shark with that.
Not your business, Glenn.
And, you might wear adult footwear to work. You're embarrassing me with those Keds.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
What’s a politcal rally without signs? Signs are everywhere in politics. Why shouldn’t they also be part of a new party that is organizing itself and reaching out to others? Stupid costumes are also part of politics. Do a search on “democrat convention hat”. Makes the Statue of Liberty hat look normal.
Way to completely ignore both points and give a personal rant. What strategy has Beck set up that has worked or has not worked?
I doubt that all 20 people dressed up or the 100 with signs put Beck where he is.
