A couple weeks ago, House Member Eleanor Holmes Norton made a fundraising call to a lobbyist. The lobbyist wasnt available, so Holmes Norton left a voicemail.
We have been given a copy of that message. The audio is below.

Ronin, what she did here, directly connecting her official position in Congress as well as specific legislation and projects to asking for money would constitute soliciting an “illegal gratuity” (had she done this before the legislation was passed, they’d have called it soliciting a “bribe.”
Ronin, this type of call is NOT typical. I’ve taken thousands of such calls over the past decade and not one has ever risen to this level.
I see what you mean, but still, do you think a prosecutor is going to touch this?
Heck, Rangel’s win yesterday just goes to prove that certain “public servants” are absolutely untouchable.
