I'm not a big fan of Joe Farrah but I am a fan of Ann Coulter and I was dismayed and disappointed to learn that she has agreed to be the keynote speaker at GOProud's 'Homocon 2010', the 'gay', allegedly 'conservative Republican' group that I have always thought was a left-wing ploy intended to entice naive, well-intentioned Republicans to accept (if not embrace) the homosexual agenda, specifically the legalization of 'gay marriage'.

Frankly, as many other FReepers have already stated, homosexual behavior as a political/social 'movement', manifested in 'the gay community's' relentless drive for the legalization of gay marriage, homosexual advocacy in public schools and so on is incompatible with conservatism, as I understand it.

The lengthy debate about the basics of conservatism are interesting but in the final analysis, I simply can't see how a group purporting to be 'conservative' while making a perverse sexual behavior the sole focus of their group is believable, unless one simply ignores the possibility that GOProud is a left-wing 'Trojan horse' being used as an entrance into conservative politics and that will work to both divide and subsume as many conservatives as possible.

That the acerbic and effective Ann Coulter accepted this group's invitation to be their keynote speaker is puzzling. If Ann intends to lecture the GOProud members at 'Homocon 2010' (what a charming name) on basic conservative values, that might make sense and even be interesting, Ann's biting wit being as sharp as it is.

However, if Ann Coulter is going to use this occasion to voice her approval of allegedly 'conservative' homosexuals who's main goal is to promote the (legally) forced acceptance of homosexual behaviors as 'normal', which they certainly are not, than she has made a grave error in judgment that will greatly diminish her popularity and influence with the majority of conservatives. That would be unfortunate, now, when conservatives are in the fight of our political life and I hope it doesn't end up that way.

As for the debate between Farrah and Barron; I'm not especially interested. It seems as if it's mostly a publicity stunt by both parties with no real benefit to anyone else. If you consider yourself a conservative and believe that a political group 'proudly' identifying itself as 'gay' and admittedly focused on only 'gay issues' while also purporting to be 'conservative' is wholly legitimate, you'll find reasons to defend them. If you believe that GOProud is a shame and does not reflect conservative values, then you'll reject them. I chose the latter.

I guess I differ with most FReepers here. They seem to want only straight white Christians. I’d prefer to join hands with all the rest of us who agree with most of Jim’s front page statement. If you agree with someone on 100% of issues, you are crazy. You can support gay people without supporting a “gay agenda.”

A lot of you who are so rough on gays want equality for your kids who might have learning disabilities, Down Sydrome, autism. You want them to have a fair shake. Well, what about your children who are born gay? Some of you know EXACTLY what I mean. The rest think it could never ever happen to you. Maybe Dick Cheney thought that once.

If you are born with a difference, you deserve love and respect. People born gay do not know exactly how best to behave as they grow up. Therefore a lot of them, like a lot of us blacks and Jews, grow up into a liberal lifestyle because we don’t know any better. Our group tells us we HAVE to be liberal.

It is up to CONSERVATIVES to spread the message that conservative policies and small government are better for EVERYONE, gay, straight, black, white, all religions, all differences. We are AMERICANS. Groupthink balkanizes us. I wish gays didn’t need their own conservative group. It’s because they are not welcome here that they do, and that is too bad.

Both lists for this one. Just sat down so haven't read many comments yet - but looks like a doozy.

Apparently some people think FR - and maybe the Republican party - only want "straight" (aka "normal") white Christians as members.

Say what????

Talking points of leftist MSM slime and Dem slime politicians. I hope someone posts the GOProud's legislative agenda, or I'll have to. the GOProud is NOT conseravtive, nor are the Log Cabin Repubs (75% of whom voted Dem last or next to last election).

These militant homosexual activists want the Republican Party to be merely an arm of the homosexual leftist agenda, and also want to demoralize conservatives and "normal" Republicans - so we won't vote!!!

Just in case no one has posted this, here is the GOProud’s “conservative” [sic] agenda.

They want same sex marriage, all kinds of special rights for same sex couples including social security, homosexuals in the military, hate crimes legislation (can’t remember about hate speech, that’s probably next), tax money for “gay businesses”, they want the US to punish or hassle other countries who are not on board with the “gay” agenda and so on.

Conservative? Feh! Leftist homosexual agenda crap!

Federal Legislative Priorities

GOProud’s Conservative Agenda

The so-called “gay agenda” is defined by the left through a narrow prism of legislative goals. While hate crimes and employment protections may be worthy goals, there are many other important priorities that receive little attention from the gay community. GOProud’s agenda emphasizes conservative and libertarian principles that will improve the daily lives of all Americans, but especially gay and lesbian Americans.

1 – TAX REFORM - Death tax repeal; domestic partner tax equity, and other changes to the tax code that will provide equity for gays and lesbians; cut in the capital gains and corporate tax rates to jump start our economy and create jobs; a fairer, flatter and substantially simpler tax code.

2 – HEALTHCARE REFORM – Free market healthcare reform. Legislation that will allow for the purchase of insurance across state lines – expanding access to domestic partner benefits; emphasizing individual ownership of healthcare insurance – such a shift would prevent discriminatory practices by an employer or the government.

3 – SOCIAL SECURITY REFORM - Bringing basic fairness to the Social Security system through the creation of inheritable personal savings accounts.

4 – DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL REPEAL – Repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy.

5 – HOLDING THE LINE ON SPENDING – Standing up for all tax payers against wasteful and unneccessary spending to protect future generations from the mounting federal debt.

6 – FIGHTING GLOBAL EXTREMISTS – Standing strong against radical regimes who seek to criminalize gays and lesbians.

7 – DEFENDING OUR CONSTITUTION – Opposing any anti-gay federal marriage amendment.

8 – ENCOURAGING COMMUNITY ENTREPRENEURSHIP – Package of free market reforms to encourage and support small businesses and entrepreneurship in the gay community.

9 – REVITALIZING OUR COMMUNITIES – A package of urban related reforms; expanding historic tax preservation credits; support for school choice.

10 – DEFENDING OUR COMMUNITY – Protecting 2nd amendment rights.

Sodomy is not a family value.

Debate over.
