In the wake of a dispute between WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah and conservative author Ann Coulter over her decision to headline an event sponsored by GOProud, a gay conservative organization, Farah and GOProud Chairman Christopher Barron will square off in a debate later this month at WND’s convention.
Barron told The Daily Caller that Farah challenged him to debate over whether GOProud can be considered “conservative” after Farah argued on his site that there is no place within conservatism for an organization like GOProud, a group that promotes itself as “the only national organization representing gay conservatives and their allies.” TheDC is waiting for confirmation from WND about the debate’s details.
Farah dropped Coulter from a speaking engagement at WND’s annual “Taking America Back” convention in Miami for agreeing to speak at GOProud’s “Homocon” party in New York. (Coulter later said that Farah had never actually booked her for a speech, calling him a “swine” and a “publicity whore.”)
Farah contends that groups like GOProud are trying to commit a “coup” to unroot the conservative movement with an “agenda…to take the homosexual agenda inside the conservative tent.”
Barron insists that his group is genuinely conservative and said he looks forward taking on Farah in front of a WND crowd.
Since we announced that conservative author and columnist Ann Coulter would be headlining our Homocon 2010 in New York City, Farah has attacked GOProud, attacked Ann, and challenged our work almost every single day, Barron said in a statement to The Daily Caller. I look forward to standing on the stage with Mr. Farah to defend GOProud, to debunk the misinformation he has spread, and to make the case for GOProuds conservative mission.
Barron added that conservatism stands at a major crossroads in its acceptance of gays into the movement. A number of high profile conservatives, including Lisa De Pasquale of the Conservative Political Action Conference, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and former General Counsel to the National Republican Senatorial Committee Craig Engle, have signed on as official sponsors of GOProud’s event.
The debate will be held on September 17 at 7:30 PM at the Doral Golf and Spa Resort in Miami, Florida.

O.K. I don't want to accuse you of being utterly clueless. Possibly you've just forgotten entirely what the topic of the thread is. (It's happened to me before.)
So, the thread is about GOProud, the gay conservative org, and it's Chairman Christopher Barron agreeing to debate WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah, at WND's annual convention, as to whether GOProud can be considered conservative.
Therefore I took you to be implying that anyone associated with GOProud, or their upcoming "Homocon" event, would in anyway endorse or approve a group like "Queers for Palestine". That would indeed be an outrageous smear. In fact -- as I documented -- "outing" the homophobia of radical Islam generally, and exposing the barbaric treatment of gays in the Palestinian territories specifically, is one of the GOProud crowd's main agenda items.
I’ve never met a happy homosexual either.
I’ve found them to be seriously messed up individuals with serious psychological issues.
Many of them have extremely low self esteem.
A very high percentage of them have no set personal beliefs, they instead will be what they are told to be.
I.e., you tell them to sit, stay, or heel and they will.
All because they are so starved for acceptance that they will do and be anything they are told to be.
Given the choice between believing you and believing the Apostle Paul, I'll go with Paul.
Romans chapter oneFor the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible manand birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[c] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[d] unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
This thread may be about homosexuals masquerading as conservatives, but the basic underlying mental illness is the same.
Adam wasn't born, he was created.
I hate the APA so I care little what they think or say.
That doesn't make them wrong. It just means that you don't like their professional opinion.
I see youre pushing the homosexual agenda, which is a direct assault on our liberty. There is no such thing as gay rights. Its a progressive political agenda established to erode away our Christian family based moral society and our constitutional rights to free speech, freedom of religion and freedom of association. I dont care how conservative you may be on other issues, if you advocate destroying our basic fundamental rights, then you have joined our political foes to work against us. This will get you banned from FR.
They are usually so unhappy because of bad parental relationships that caused the homosexual behavior. It can be as simple as having an emotionally distant father. Or an overbearing mother. The result is a damaged child.
“Homosexual conservative” would be like claiming to be a Big government, statist, abortionist, gun grabbing conservative. There’s no such thing. If you’re a Big government guy, you’re no conservative. If you’re a statist, you’re no conservative. If you’re an abortionist, you’re no conservative. If you’re a gun grabber, you’re no conservative. And if you’re a “gay rights” advocate, you’re no conservative.
Ask them if they can spell the “eff” in “homosexual conservative.”
Exactly. There may also be the influence of being sexually abused as a child. Or it might be something else. One factor in my sister’s conversion was that when she and my brother were children, he refused to play with her unless she dressed and acted like a boy. This went on for a number of years, which I unfortunately did not find out about until long after we were adults.
Exactly so.
It appears Jim Robinson outlaws any promotion of "the Gay Agenda". No problem. I don't promote "the Gay Agenda". Which undoubtedly is a liberal left agenda. I promote conservatism. I support any genuine conservative who promotes conservatism. And I will defend such conservatives from smears and bigotry, even if it comes from other conservatives.
This is all I am doing with respect to GOProud. I think the principle figures behind GOProud are genuine conservatives. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's my view at present. If you or others can persuade me otherwise, that's fine. I'll turn on them in a nanosecond. You (all) just haven't been very persuasive so far.
You tell me you had a gay brother and got to know his friends, so you suddenly know how "they" (by implication any and all homosexuals) think. Not persuasive.
Others point to the words or deeds of leftist gays and claim that they should characterize the GOProud group, and nevermind that GOProud and its members openly and adamantly oppose them. Again, not persuasive.
Furthermore I -- and other posters (hello, Yaelle!) -- have now been repeatedly threatened with banning by multiple posters. I've never found threats persuasive. If anything, they tend to persuade me that those issuing the threats do not have a compelling case to make for their views.
I know, it’s contradictory.
Yet they just keep trying to run that one past the line of scrimmage.
“I don’t promote “the Gay Agenda”. “
What do you think the Log Cabin Republicans, er, GOProud is?
Can you spell the “eff” in “homosexual conservative?”
*********************
If they are true conservatives, why is their new organization called "GO Proud"?
Their first concern is the homosexual agenda.
Well *cough* it may be pronounced where the ‘v’ in “conservative” is.
/ bad bad bad bad.
Whatever. I think I’ve presented adequate evidence for my case, and the discussion is obviously nonproductive. So flame on, and welcome to the last word. Stultis has left the thread.
And why is their event titled “HOMOcon”? You don’t see the emphasis on homosexuality rather than conservatism?
What do you think the Log Cabin Republicans are?
Just what agenda and or political push are they *cough* behind?
My brothers problem was my parents. Dad took a powder and Mom was abusive. He knows he wasn’t born that way. But he can’t get past being a victim. He’s comfortable with it. They’re both dead but he is still a victim of abuse. It’s what he knows.
