From the author’s other writings I would say yes, it is his writing style.

You know, if I would dare to write an open letter to a prominent figure, (setting aside the un-use-intentional sic), I'd make sure I used the correct homonym for the word "throne". As in,

...who sought thereby to reestablish his line upon the thrown of england

I just can't take a writer seriously if they're going to make mistakes like this. You know, we were told that spelling, grammar and all that were going to be important in the real world, even as schools sought to dumb down the grading of English, Math and Sciences. In my opinion, I think it matters.

sir, thank you for pointing out the error in the use of “thrown” as opposed to “thone.”

i cannot do much about the replication of the error here, but, at http://wintersoldier2008.typepad.com, the correction has been made. it has been effected.
