I had a passport of my own when I was 9 or 10. In 1959 or 60. Not on my parents’.

Was your passport issued for the purpose of foreign travel?

I got my first passport in 1971, and the application required a detailed itinerary. I asked what would happen if I left it blank, and they said the passport wouldn't be issued.

My whole family traveled, and lived overseas for two years. Each child had their own passport. That way we could go with one parent or the other to various places, I guess.
