Unfortunately, [the photos] dont give what we saw justice, said Chris Kauffman, referencing the photos he snapped while flying over the Florida Keys on May 22.
We saw a lot of oil in the water, he said.
The oil streamers stretched north to south for at least 10 miles North-northwest of Marathon, on the Gulf side.
The water appeared to be heading easterly but I cant confirm that. Plus, the shape of the deposits seemed to indicate that,...
There’s more than enough oil in this deposit for a lot of us.
There is the possibility that the well never gets capped and the gushing torrent of oil creates huge swathes of dead zones as time, currents and storms swirl it all around.
This is shaping up to be one of those nightmare scenarios that are even hard to game contingency plans for, let alone deal with when you have criminials and nincompoops running things.
We had a couple of weeks to mount an all hands all out effort to stop the oil hitting the coast.
And we didn’t.
Sad, ain’t it, when we’re shown up by the Saudis?
Empty Tankers to the Gulf ASAP, that’s where both Tony and Obie effed up, BIG, BIG time. Burn some, scoop some up, but all we did was disperse the oil across the ocean and ocean floor.
Nightmare scenario it is. I must confess that, from time to time, I cannot help but wonder if we are looking at an era ender. I know I am crazy for thinking this, and I know that ecosystems can and do rebound, but what if everything fails, what if the oil field is much larger than anyone even knew, and what if this volcano gushes for the next 100 years...or more?
None of us can see the future, and I’m pretty sure none of us is being given the straight skinny on exactly what the situation is. Is this the big one? I dunno, but it’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen.
It is Shemp! Someone made it and put Shemp instead of Shep (Smith). They may not look exactly alike, but IMHO, their broadcasting capabilities match perfectly.

Don’t know if this has been posted yet, but it’s pretty funny...
“You picked a fine time to lead us barack”
Did anyone see the interview with Sen Ben Nelson saying there are fissures on the sea floor which are leaking oil in addition to the BOP and that it means the drilling column below the sea floor is probably damaged?
Been out of the loop. To which volcano do you refer? There have been a couple spouting lately. Or do you mean to use volcano as a metaphor for the underwater oil gusher?
I am referring to the underwater volcano of crude oil in the Gulf of Toxico.
Thanks. I thought that may have been it. Given the way things are going these days, one never knows.

I heard about it. If the sea floor around the gusher is beginning to crack like an egg shell, we are really screwed.
I think you have a point.

Yup. They are already telling people in Florida who have COPD to stay away from the shoreline because of the stench of the oil. And workers need breathing masks and talk about the incredible stench. Wait till the really humid time of summer starts and people have to breathe a cocktail of oil and corexit. Even people who don`t have COPD will quickly get it. I can easily envision a mass evacuation of the gulf states as the water becomes too toxic to drink and the air becomes too toxic to breathe. And the southern winds will push that toxic air more and more northward.
I am about 35 miles north of Navarre Beach which is the east end of Santa Rosa Island. I have wondered at least a few times if such a stench will reach me. If I have to move in light of such an event, I will definitely file suit against BP.
No, they are lying and that is a FACT, no conjecture.
Are you one of those who thinks Google Earth constantly updates? LOL! The pics for my house are 3+ years old.

We dive every day 5 miles south of Duck Key, FL. We have seen absolutely no evidence of oil either on or below the surface. Oil that was reported on in Duck Key Marina was tested and found to be NOT from the BP Spill. The reports dont make sense. If theres oil in the Marathon area why isnt it being seen all the way around the Keys starting in Key West. Everyone is hypersensitive due to the Spill in the Gulf. Spills happen from ships in the Gulf Stream all the time. It only seems newsworthy now. Call the local charters and get the real story.
