Sarah is, first and foremost, a Republican politician.

Palin has never thought in the same box as you... or me. Not surprising. Alaskans are very much individualists and always will be.

Has anyone thought to ASK her why?

I very much believe she’d tell you, and do so honestly. Speculation seem like such a loser sport, you know.

You may be right. Time will tell. Her constant support of those known as “Rinos” makes me suspicious. In the long run a person cannot hide themselves. We have time to fully evaluate her. Again, time will tell.

One last comment. Palin’s willing to go out on a limb and actually endorse, not waiting for the rest of the world to choose sides. That’s a risky move politically. You’re not always going to find yourself on the most popular side. You’re not always going to be “right” either. In this case, score = ‘courage, 1’,’being right, 0’ perhaps. Then again, the cynic in me says that Palin’s just doing what she views as the right thing - DeVore’s been criticised for being an inept campaigner and manager - that could be a worse sin in some eyes than being ideologically impure. Whatcha’ gonna’ do? Throw Palin under the bus?

It's about winnability. That's it?

And about an endorsement that will help in the Presidential primary in 2012. If Devore loses, his endorsement won't help much in 2012. If Fiorina wins, hers will, at least in the primary, maybe in the general. Palin seems to have decided that Devore could not win. She should have been helping him all along, and she should not have thrown in the towel too early, either. If he still wasn't cutting it, a week or so before the election, she could have had influence with him to get him to throw his support to Fiorina to prevent a Campbell win.

If she had been active for Devore, I bet his numbers would be different. It is nice that they are climbing now, I hope they can keep going. Rush ought to weigh in on his behalf, he has been pretty vocal about the need to elect conservatives. Levin already endorsed him. Palin made a mistake on this one.

Was set to vote for DeVore. But Sarah's recent endorsement flipped my vote.

You Betcha.

If CA elects a Republican, it will be a CA Republican, not a conservative republican.

I disagree. A conservative can win, if he/she articulates his positions and does not back down in the face of liberal attacks. A Chris Christie personality who tells it like it is, supports America and limited government, and who promises to enforce the border and protect the California taxpayers from an invasion would win big. Maybe not every year, but this year is set up for that kind of candidate. To nominate Fiorina is to waste the opportunity that has been handed to us.

The motto of this election should be "We need two thirds in Congress to stay free". This message resonated even in Massachusetts.

She did explain it on her Facebook post, in detail. I didn’t agree. I mostly agree with her on other things, and she is my favorite of the people mentioned these days for 2012, unless DeMint runs.

There is a problem in the argument that she supports the candidate with the biggest chances of winning. This implies that Palin’s endorsement is worthless and that she has no influence and merely goes with the flow. So Palin is clearly wrong in taking this position. She could have shown her mettle by influencing voters to vote for DeVore and delivering a victory for conservatives.

In my opinion, she (Palin) is basically a populist with conservative instincts but not a consistent ideological compass.

Agreed, except for the "conservative instincts" part. However, I will say I do think Mrs Palin has exceptional political instincts. (Which is to say, she can stick her finger in the wind and right now the prevailing winds are blowing in a conservative direction, so, like her former running mate, she will tack that way, when she isn't veering off in another direction)

To tell the truth, I haven't the faintest idea what Mrs Palin means when she says "commonsense conservatism". Reminds me of "compassionate conservatism," which in turn reminds me of Former VPOTUS Dan Quayle saying he would fire anyone on his staff who uttered the phrase "compassionate conservative."

What it means is this: Hey conservative, gimme your vote, but trust me, when I throw conservative values under the bus I am actually doing good for you based on common sense which I have but you don't. So you need to continue supporting me when I compromise on conservative values.

“.....she had a pooch moment as we all do...”

As my spiritual father and mentor once told me: “Everyone burns their toast once in a while, no matter WHO they are!”

Sarah pretty much burned HERS on the Fiorina endorsement. But remember, our hero Ronaldus Magnus didn’t bat 1000, either. NOBODY does.

What would anyone think of a BARBOUR/PALIN ticket? Just askin’.

She said why in the attached video. Watch it. She thinks Fiorina can win.

I’m fed up with Sarah Palin. It was bound to happen on her famed glory train ride. She needs to step back out of the limelight for awhile as she has oversold her brand and she’s getting a bit goofy. Enough already!

Mark Levin is supporting DeVore. He has spent more time articulating conservatism on a theoretical and practical level than Palin. His endorsement trumps hers in my mind.

Is that evil or bad? One thing I know about Alaskans... Is that they play the hand they’re dealt as best they can. If that’s how she sees it, it might be ultimately a mistake... or it might be right. Ultimately, I want the best possible candidate who can win. But I won’t shred anyone, nor throw them under the bus for disagreeing on who that is.
