Over the years, I have heard a number of claims of discovering ancient hewn wood at high altitudes. Invariably, they turn out to have been part of some tribesmans hut or shrine built when the climate was probably warmer.
Even if a boat-like structure made from gopherwood and covered with pitch is what the searchers found, it could still have been constructed as some sort of shrine or monument rather than an ark that came to rest there.
